Lucas Newland

Owner/Artistic Director

Lucas Newland is the Owner and Artistic Director of Brent Street, Australia’s premier performing arts training institution, and Founder of Focus Talent Management, a boutique agency representing elite performers across theatre, film, television, and live events. Since taking over Brent Street in 2015, he has overseen its growth into a world-class hub for both elite and recreational dancers, shaping pathways for performers across stage, film, and television. Having joined Brent Street himself as a teenager, Newland brings a lifelong connection to the studio, revitalising its curriculum and expanding its reach to develop talent from the youngest students to graduates pursuing professional careers on international stages.

As a creative director and choreographer, Newland has worked extensively across live theatre, festivals, corporate events, and international productions. In 2023, he choreographed GATSBY at The Green Light, a reimagined and immersive staging of The Great Gatsby, which premiered at the Sydney Opera House before transferring to the Brisbane Festival. The show returns to the Sydney Opera House in December 2025. His stage and live entertainment credits include the Australian production of American Idiot at Brisbane QPAC in 2017, Velvet featuring Marcia Hines which toured nationally and internationally including seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe between 2015 and 2019, and L’Hotel, which played a celebrated season at the Sydney Opera House in 2022. His creative work in Las Vegas includes Absinthe with Spiegelworld at Caesars Palace, which was named “Best Show in Vegas,” and Vegas Nocturne – Rose.Rabbit.Lie at The Cosmopolitan Hotel. In Australia, his work has been featured at major cultural events such as Pigalle at the Sydney Festival.
