We’ve worked hard to establish our courses as the hallmark for a career in the performing arts, which have now evolved to a two year offering. One year of training is simply not enough to produce the performers that directors, creatives and agents need, and therefore not enough for you to forge a long, flourishing career. Two years of our premium, intensive training produces not only impeccable performers but industry leaders; choreographers, creative directors, producers and teachers.
PERFORMING ARTS
Established over three decades ago, our Performing Arts course was the first of its kind in Australia. Recognised across the globe for unmatched, intensive training in commercial dance, the Performing Arts course is our flagship offering. Now expanded to a two year, Advanced Diploma course, we’re giving our students the best possible chance at succeeding in our ever-changing and highly competitve workforce. Whether it’s film, television, world tours or musical theatre, there is hardly a facet of performing arts that doesn’t feature a Brent Street Performing Arts graduate.
MUSICAL THEATRE
Our Musical Theatre course sets the benchmark for intensive, performance-based training for triple-threats in the Australian theatre scene. With an equal focus on dancing, singing and acting and an integrated industry immersion program, this course produces weapon-like performers and creatives.
ACADEMY (HIGH SCHOOL YEARS 7-12)
Education is the first priority at our Academy. A strong education with completion of schooling is vital to a prosperous career in the Performing Arts. Daily, each student studies 3 hours of academics through our partnership with Distance Education providers. Our in-house academic manager, academic supervisor and tutors support our students with their school work, working one-on-one with each student to develop an Individual Learning Plan. Along with the incredible performing arts training, our students have continued to achieve exceptional academic results.
In addition to their academic studies, students in Years 11 and 12 may choose to complete the Nationally Recognised Qualification CUA40320 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management. This qualification is gained over 2 years and arms students with in-studio dance teaching experience, along with dance-related business savviness such as invoicing, quoting, insurances, choreography, music copyright, marketing and social media. Regardless of each student’s goals and journey, Performing Arts is the common passion of the Brent Street Academy student body. Each day students are trained in dancing, singing and acting classes, driving the students to strong growth in their ability and an unmatched determination. Performing Arts classes are held each day for 3 hours. Classes are taught by Brent Street’s faculty, made up of Australia’s most influential and leading educators in this industry – most of which were once students of Brent Street Academy.
In addition to this daily schedule, all Academy students are members of the Brent Street Performance Training Program, which runs two nights per week and Saturdays. This is our elite after-school program and includes approximately 13 additional hours of training per week. The integration with this training program invites students to expand upon even more styles of dance and valuable hours of training. Valued at approximately $8000 per year, this membership is included in Academy fees.
